Pharmaceuticals fight hyperhidrosis

In the pharmaceutical sector antihidrotics are offered to combat increased transpiration.

These products contain camphor and sage and are prepared in different forms (tea, cream, powder, etc.).

There are (up to beginning of 2010) no scientifically sound studies on the quality of their antihidrotic effect, maybe they can contribute to the alleviation of hyperhidrosis.

They can be systematic or local, with or without occlusion and can be applied as an addition to the iontophoresis treatment.

Finally, the major disadvantage of anticholinergics is limited by their availability. They result in systematic side effects in the autonomic nervous system. Even low doses can cause blurred vision, tachycardia and a dry mouth.
